Claim Borgata's 100% match up to $500 if the terms page you land on says 5x on the bonus money only. That is $2,500 of wagering to unlock $500, against $15,000 of wagering to unlock BetMGM's $1,000 at 15x. BetMGM is the better pick only in two cases: you were going to deposit $1,000 anyway and can push about $1,071 a day through qualifying slots for two weeks, or the Borgata page in front of you shows 15x instead of 5x.
Plan on getting one of these bonuses, not both. The NJ Division of Gaming Enforcement's list of approved sites shows BetMGM operating under Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa's license rather than its own, and PlayNJ notes the two sites share platform technology. None of the sources below states the cross-brand eligibility rule outright. Read the operator's terms page before you register, because the account you open first decides which offer you get.
What this comparison rests on: BetMGM's own blog, plus the terms that RotoWire, CasinoReports, Sports Betting Dime, Casino.org and PlayNJ published. Borgata's own terms page was not among the sources. Both operators run several versions of their offers under different promo codes, and the multiples differ between them. The figures below are dated to the source that carried them.

BetMGM Casino NJ
Two versions of the BetMGM offer are in circulation, so check which one your sign-up page shows.
The version CasinoReports describes is a $25 no-deposit credit plus a 100% match up to $1,000. The $25 carries 1x wagering on slots. You have 3 days from registration to claim it and 7 days from activation to clear it, and its winnings stay locked until you make a real-money deposit. The match is the harder part: 15x within 14 days, on qualifying slots and jackpot slots only, with more than 70 titles excluded. Blood Suckers, Dead or Alive, Monopoly MegaWays and White Rabbit are among them. If you play one of those titles while clearing, the play does not count.
The version RotoWire lays out replaces the single match with a daily wheel. For seven days you get one spin, and it can land on a 25% match up to $50, a 50% match up to $100, a 100% match up to $200, or 500 reward points. The matches cap at $1,400 across seven qualifying deposits, at 15x within 14 days. That version lets table games count at 20% and non-live blackjack at 10%, so $100 bet on blackjack clears $10 of wagering. BetMGM's own blog puts the wheel match at 10x, not 15x, and says the promotion runs in New Jersey through March 14, 2027. The two sources disagree on the multiple, so read your offer's terms before you deposit.
None of the sources gives a maximum cashout on the match, and none says whether the 15x applies to the bonus alone or to the bonus plus your deposit. If it is bonus plus deposit, every wagering figure on this page for BetMGM doubles.
Who it suits: a slots player who would deposit $1,000 in the first week regardless and has the bankroll to wager about $1,071 a day for 14 days. The full BetMGM rollover breakdown works through that one offer line by line.
Borgata Casino NJ
Borgata makes you choose between two welcome offers. You can take a 100% match up to $500, or 20 bonus spins for every $10 deposited, up to $100 deposited and 200 spins. You cannot take both.
The figure that matters is the multiple, and it depends on which page you sign up through. Sports Betting Dime's page, updated October 13, 2026, states 5x on the bonus money only, not the deposit, within 14 days. RotoWire's Borgata page gives 5x within 7 days for an offer dated February 2 through June 30, 2026. Casino.org and PlayNJ both report 15x with 30 days to clear. PlayNJ's worked example puts it in dollars: deposit $10, receive $10 in Bonus Dollars, then wager $150 before you can cash out.
Only slots and jackpot slots clear the match, and poker, sports and certain named slots are excluded. Unused bonus expires 14 days after registration.
The wheel is where Borgata pulls ahead. It runs for 8 consecutive days and can award up to 1,000 bonus spins, and both RotoWire's October 13 write-up and Sports Betting Dime say the winnings from those spins carry no wagering requirement. Sports Betting Dime adds that there are "some limits on bonus spin winnings" at cashout but gives no figure. No source gives a maximum cashout on the deposit match.
Who it suits: almost anyone depositing $500 or less who wants a rollover small enough to finish, as long as the page they sign up through shows 5x.
Where the two offers part ways
Wagering per bonus dollar. At 5x, Borgata asks you to wager $5 for each bonus dollar. BetMGM asks $15. BetMGM's bigger headline number only matters if you deposit more than $500. At any deposit up to $500, you receive the same bonus from both, and BetMGM asks three times the play to release it. Every dollar wagered costs you the game's house edge, so three times the wagering is three times the expected cost. Here is that cost in dollars, assuming the rollover is on the bonus only.
Same $500 deposit, three sets of terms
Hypothetical: you play slots that return 96 cents per dollar wagered over the long run, a 4% edge. Your slot's real figure is on its info screen. Expected cost is wagering times 4%.
| BetMGM, $500 bonus at 15x: wagering | $7,500 |
|---|---|
| BetMGM expected cost / expected value left | $300 / $200 |
| Borgata, $500 bonus at 5x: wagering | $2,500 |
| Borgata expected cost / expected value left | $100 / $400 |
| Borgata, $500 bonus at 15x: wagering | $7,500 |
| Borgata at 15x expected cost / expected value left | $300 / $200 |
| BetMGM, full $1,000 bonus at 15x: wagering | $15,000 |
| BetMGM full match expected cost / expected value left | $600 / $400 |
At 5x, Borgata leaves $400 of expected value on a $500 deposit. BetMGM needs a $1,000 deposit and $15,000 of play to match it. If your slots run at a 5% edge, BetMGM's full match drops to $250 and Borgata's 5x match to $375.
Daily pace. $15,000 over 14 days is about $1,071 a day. $2,500 over 14 days is about $179 a day, or about $357 a day if your page gives 7 days. Most bonuses that fail are not lost on bad luck. They expire half-cleared, and BetMGM's pace is the one that does that. The arithmetic for turning a multiple into dollars is the same at any rate.
Wheel winnings. Borgata's wheel pays bonus spins whose winnings you can withdraw without wagering. BetMGM's wheel pays more deposit match, and that match carries its own 10x or 15x. One wheel gives you cash you can withdraw. The other gives you more wagering to clear. A low multiple still comes with conditions, including short windows and slots-only clearing, and low multiples come with catches that are worth checking before you opt in.
Which one to claim
Open Borgata if you plan to deposit $500 or less and the sign-up page shows 5x on the bonus only. You wager a third as much for the same bonus, and the wheel spin winnings come without a rollover.
Open BetMGM if you will deposit close to $1,000 in your first week and can wager about $1,071 a day on non-excluded slots for 14 days. At those stakes, its larger match and $25 no-deposit credit are worth the heavier rollover.
If Borgata's page shows 15x and 30 days, the multiples match. In that case BetMGM's $25 credit and higher cap make it the slightly better account to open, though BetMGM's 14-day window is tighter than Borgata's 30 days at that multiple.
Whichever you choose, read the terms page before you register, not after. Both brands run under one license, so whichever account you open first decides which welcome bonus you get.
